As part of WingsRising's continued commitment to education, it will be creating an exhibit at the North Idaho State Fair this year (August 16-25, 2024). We have contracted with the Butterfly Haven of Pingree, Idaho to bring up its large 16x36 specially designed tent to create an immersive environment for visitors to enter into a world of hundreds of flying butterflies. Children and adults alike love this exhibit!
As you enter the exhibit each visitor is given a Q-tip. Once inside the exhibit, the visitor can soak the Q-tip in nectar and feed the butterflies flying about. Many actually land on the visitors as they walk about the exhibit. It is not only fun, it is a great educational experience.
Outside the exhibit, WingsRising will have a table to give away small milkweed plants, ready to be taken home and planted in your backyard. Remember: NO MILKWEED--NO MONARCHS! Milkweed is the ONLY plant species that Monarchs will lay their eggs to host on. As the milkweed is reduced through land development, farming, and herbicide use, the Monarch becomes increasingly threatened. Come by the exhibit at the fair and pick up some milkweed plants ready to go into the ground.
The wife and kids should be able to make it. Hoping all goes well this year!
